IDU and Dreamweaver

All the 8th Grade students used a variety of software to create a multimedia presentation that communicated their thesis statement about a particular controversy that is present in the society. This lesson took eight class periods to complete.

Body Systems and Dreamweaver

All the 7th Grade Science students used Fireworks and Dreamweaver to create a four page website that gave information about a human body system that they researched. This lesson took five class periods to complete.

Egypt, Fireworks and Dreamweaver

The 6th Grade Social Studies students studied the culture of Ancient Egypt and focused on the Egyptians' view of the afterlife. The students had to imagine how it would be to leave their individual legacies in a pyramid to be viewed by future generations, and, with that idea in mind, they wrote an essay on how their lives might be. Later, they chose different hieroglyphics that described aspects of those lives. Finally the students used Dreamweaver and Fireworks to create a five page website that was built around these different hieroglyphics related to their personality. The tech aspect of the project took five class periods to complete.

Constantinople, Google Docs, Fireworks and Dreamweaver

The 7th Grade Social Studies students did research on the ancient city of Constantinople and kept their notes in their Google Docs account. These notes became the text for the different pages in their website. Later they created graphics in Fireworks, which they added to the website that they constructed in Dreamweaver. The students also used Google Earth to capture views of the area from different altitudes. The lesson took four class periods to complete.

Short Stories, Fireworks and Dreamweaver

The 8th grade Language Arts students created a five page website that summarized different short stories that they have read so far this semester. The students created a navigation system with rollover buttons in Fireworks, which they later exported into Dreamweaver. The students also created a link to download a PDF version of their own original short story. The lesson took five class periods to complete.

Absolutism, Fireworks and Dreamweaver

The 8th grade Social Studies students created a four page website titled, Understanding Absolutism. The students had to create several graphics in Fireworks, which they later exported to Dreamweaver. Inside of Dreamweaver, the students constructed the pages with text, graphics and links. The lesson took seven class periods to complete.

Short Story Review and Dreamweaver

The 8th grade Language Arts students used Fireworks and Dreamweaver to create a website that reviewed five different short stories that they read during the year. Each page had a short summary of the story and a rating. Many students used Google Docs to compose the content of the site for homework, while they worked on the site design during the day at school. This lesson took five class periods to complete.

Human Body Systems and Dreamweaver

The 7th grade Science students used Fireworks and Dreamweaver to create a web site that focused on one of the human body systems. They created buttons and a title bar with Fireworks and later imported these into Dreamweaver. Once their website was laid out and linked together, the students used their research notes to finish the content requirements of the project. This lesson took six class periods to complete.

Community Service Web Page and Dreamweaver

A group of middle school students is using Photoshop, Word, iMovie and Dreamweaver to record and publish the progress made by different house groups with their community service projects. This project will take six class periods to complete.

Renaissance and Dreamweaver CS3

The 7th grade Social Studies students created a website that explained the beginnings of the Renaissance. They used a Dreamweaver template, which they duplicated and customized to satisfy the lesson requirements of a thesis statement and three supporting arguments. In the end, students created four different webpages, all with text, graphics and a navigation bar. The navigation bar had rollover buttons and links which connected all the pages to one another. This project took about four visits to the lab to finish.

Online Newspaper in Dreamweaver

The 8th Grade National Spanish students spent two weeks in the computer lab, composing an original online newspaper with fictitious news stories. They used Dreamweaver to organize the different sections and concentrated on efficient networking between team members in order to meet the deadlines. One person in the team acted as the webmaster, receiving and linking the html documents from the reporters/writers/graphic artists who produced the material.
